Has he definitely got a contract at Rotherham next season? All the transfer sites showing his contract expires on 30/6/24. It might be good news he pulled out. Telling us he knows he has nothing to gain playing for us ie he won't be here next year, so he's keeping himself fit for trials in the summer.. Straw clutching, but the board will go into meltdown if he resigns All you have to do is search Joshua Kayode contract and it's the second article down...like come on , two seconds of work could have told you that. I'll have the intern flogged. I'm in a foul mood, the whole centre of the town is closed, bloody David Cameron is here. I feel a grudge against kayode. I thought he was exactly what we needed. Good in the air, holds the ball up, quick. If the defence is struggling, go long and the ball won't just come straight back. Instead, nothing, I'm sure he doesn't want to be injured, but so disappointing

If he wants to sack it off and not play for the shirt then forget him and move on.
That kind of attitude seems prevalent and the Club and needs to be rooted out. That should be Simpson's number one priority.

Last time we had him he played three quarters of the season, our form collapsed due to an outbreak of covid amongst the squad, barely playing for a month or so after Xmas and a fixture backlog, not because of Kayode. I’m not biased either way with him, he was okay in his last spell, he’s been a total waste of time this time around and I’ve seen nothing much to claim he’s clearly talented or a great player. He was far better than ok, he was essential to that success in the fist part of the season and yes COVID played a factor , but losing him definitely derailed us. We took 1 point from 7 games BEFORE he got injured. We won more than we lost during his 10 games out. Losing him for those 10 games saw a marked upturn in our fortunes! Covid was the reason that season fell apart. www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joshua-kayode/leistungsdaten/spieler/532195/plus/0?saison=2020

Makes an argument much stronger when you can support it with statistics doesn't it Frank? Much better than just guessing

Do we really want him anyway with his injury record, our injuries have been terrible and signing a player with his injury record is just an own goal. If he has decided he didnt want to play on Saturday beacuse he couldnt be bothered then that's another reason why we wouldnt want him. Simmo didnt specify what the issue was but given his tone and what he didnt say, he was obviously disappoined he didnt make himself available, on that basis I dont think injury was the real reason!

Stats can help though , he won the highest Ariel duel stats that season of any player, and highest numbers of headers won (same thing to be fair ) . Think we remember him differently which is fair, but athletic and good In the air is exactly what we missed Shame he didn't get a chance to show it because of his injury history

I don't think Kayode's head is in the right place.
When he played the other week he looked very nervous, pulled out of tackles and that run he did from the midfield just looked awkward.
I just put it down to being out for so long and not wanting to injure himself in a tackle, that lay off that Mellish did not take seemed to destroy him a little bit more.
I can imagine he stressed about the game till the early hours and rang Simmo in the morning with his reason for not playing.
It looked like he wasn't ready to return I reckon and maybe they rushed him back.

Get him on pay as you play, he'd be a good signing imo. But there would be a poor reaction from lots of fans. Probably better to move on and see if he can rebuild his career

But we need commitment to the cause from everyone if we are to be successful next season. Making yourself unavailable is just not what you want from any player at any time.

Unavailable for Saturday, Simmo has been asked (not sure by who?) not to say anymore. The plot thickens.....

Weird, simpsons reaction wasn't it. Not coming back next season, so a blessing in disguise
