Thought it was worth talking about the games we saw over the season. Best teams for me across 2 games were Reading and Lincoln. Both had the ability to find a pass, they could go short or long and they had players across the pitch who could beat a man.
Players who stood out Sheehan Bolton, Goodrham Oxford , Burrows Peterborough.
Worst teams, Port Vale and Burton. The subs who came on for PV at BP were atrocious.

Results rarely lie and a good number of League 1 sides had pattern to their play and individuals in their teams that we couldn`t match. Derby and Portsmouth just looked good solid teams that`d get a result without any frills, Posh, Bolton, Wigan, Oxford, Reading and Lincoln - good footballing sides that clinically carved us up, but somehow we managed to get something out of two of the games. Burton, Port Vale, Shrews, Stevenage, Exeter, Charlton, Cheltenham, Northampton, Bristol Rovers - poor to ordinary, and maybe should`ve got more out of some of those games than we did if we`d have shown a bit more urgency.

Wigan first half at BP were probably the outstanding performance.
But let’s face it we made most teams look decent. Cambridge looked like Barcelona and then went on to a a long losing streak

Well summed up Yorkie. There were some seriously good footballing sides who had us chasing shadows. The early season games against Wigan and Peterborough were cases in point although ironically we managed to escape with draws. Our failure to successfully compete against the lesser teams was the real killer and showed how far off the pace we were.

The player that stood out for me was Dembelle, we couldn't get near him, goes to show you don't have to be 6ft tall and physical in order to dominate a game.

Interesting you’ve named Sheehan, Goodrham and Burrows. Have you come to this conclusion using your own judgement or using stats? Thing is the Sofascore stat ratings don’t quite back up your selections. Without being the highest, Sheehan was up there in the ratings I’ll give you that, but Goodrham and Burrows nowhere near. How can this possibly be???

For what it’s worth I thought Sheehan was the best I saw up here this season, followed by Michael Hector of Charlton and Cameron Brannagan of Oxford.

I’ve never been able to enjoy or appreciate good performances from opposition teams or players. If it’s a game between two other teams on the telly then I love to see good football, but not against us. Very jaundiced, I know.

Is Kyle Dempsey worth a mention?

I watched a lot of non-league football back in the late 90`s, early 2000`s, and 3 players stood out for me, and I always remember.
Darren Vicary/Northwich Victoria.
Saw him boss the game from midfield, and win the game by lobbing the keeper from the halfway line, before Beckham became famous for doing anything. Everyone at the ground was in awe at what we had just seen, but he never did anything after that, and faded away. But I will always remember that as one of the most incredible moments of skill I`ve ever seen.
Kevin Betsy/Woking
Saw this lad several times as a midfielder, and everyone thought he was destined for greater things. He was immense and all over the pitch, and I really thought he would be div1/2 very quickly. Seemed to fall apart for him on the pitch, but I think he`s doing really well for himself as a coach/manager now ?
Met him once in the bar at a non league ground, after he`d retired, and he was such a nice chap, really hope his career is goes upwards.
Michael Smyth/stevenage
THE best centre back I`ve ever seen, this man was an absolute WALL for stevenage back when they were non-league. How he didn`t get picked up by a league side, I will never know. Or perhaps I might if I use the internet, but I like these older memories, right happy ?!
This lad threw himself at everything, and commaneded the back line like I`ve never seen, it wasn`t just a one-off. He did it game after game after game. A true goliath at the back, and as much as I despise stevenage, this bloke deserved to play higher up.

Kevin Betsy had a very decent career as a player, 586 appearances - 88 goals.
Had notable success at Barnsley and Wycombe - impressed playing against us a few times over the years.
Assistant manager at Cambridge now, highly thought of in coaching circles (so I hear).

If Betsy was announced tomorrow morning as our new manager, that would make me very, VERY happy.
