He's spoken on his return to training about his hopes for the season ahead;
“I spoke to the manager briefly before the season finished,” revealed Branthwaite to evertontv. “For me, I know I need to come in, have a strong pre-season and secure a place for next season. I have got the experience I need to come back and get into the team.
“Overall, I need to have a strong pre-season and go from there.”
This statement could be read as if after a good pre season, I'm not in the team I'm off, if he doesn't replace Michael Keane no body could blame him.

Some positive comments from the main Toffees fan forum on Branthwaite's latest performance in Everton's 1-0 friendly win over Sporting yesterday: "Should start for me. I can see the case Dyche plays Keane over him, but he is just so much better than both Godfrey and Holgate." "Thought last Saturday we were much more solid second half after he came on and same today. Got to start next Saturday, just praying it's alongside Tarkowski." "Very comfortable on the ball with both feet and looks to have a bit of steel in his game. Has to be a starter." "After watching him for 45 minutes today, I'm convinced he's the real deal and look forward to the media getting him his move to one of the big 12 or however many there are now" "Excellent today. Felt like the crowd was doing its bit to tel Dyche “play this lad.” His many useful defensive contributions were very much appreciated by the supporters I thought." "I must admit that I haven't seen him play very much , but what I have seen has been very impressive. One of the few things to look forward to this season." "Very composed on the ball, reminds me of Stones, didn’t put a foot wrong today" "I reckon we have 3 players who have magic in their boots. This lad, Onana and a fully fit DCL"

A couple of seasons establishing himself in Everton's first team before being flogged to Man Utd or City for 50 million would be well worth the wait and would do wonders for our club.

Any club interested in him will know Everton are desperate for cash, not only are they going to get hit due to FFP, they have now lost an investor who was going to buy 25% of the club.

Branthwaite did well yesterday, Everton forum rated him highly. One poster said he will go to Man City for £100 million. Knowing our luck he’ll see out his contract and leave for nothing, with the takeover negotiations still rumbling on.

Widely reported as man of the match yesterday, makes you wonder why he didn’t start the season. On a separate note, Dyche brought Keane on in the 92nd minute yesterday when they’re 1-0 down. Wonder what some managers are thinking at times.

We've got windfalls coming for Telford and Henderson and possibly for Branthwaite. Obviously we don't know yet about Branthwaite but realistically if he goes for a reasonable sum will the combined windfalls clear the debt?

And the same applies to Henderson as well if United sell him now they get 20 million [ or near to it ] Let his contract run out [ cant see him signing another one can you ] and they get nothing which is why i can see him going somewhere this week. Lets just hope its a straight transfer and not some conveluted loan deal. He was on the Bench yeaterday so must have been judged fit enough to play removing the supposed problem that he wouldnt pass the Forest medical until he was fully recovered from his op. And Forest clearly havnt gone out and signed anybody else so you would think they are still fully interested in signing him.
