Rather than clutter up, and derail threads in the main forum, with my nostalgic drivel, here`s a thread for anyone with an interest in old toys, or who has a collection either on display, or boxed away, and don`t know what they have, and if it has any value.
Star Wars 1977-85 is my area, so if anyone has some of it still around, and want to know what/if it`s worth anything, then add a pic to the thread of what you have, or send me a PM, and I`ll have a look over, and let you know if any of it is valuable.
Please note, if you need any help, I`m not going to make any offers for what you have, I`ll only advise you on what it might be worth should you decide to sell it, and to point out, if any of what you have is valuable.
If you`re here, then you`re a fellow Carlisle United supporter, and I`d rather help make money FOR you, not make money from you.
And I`d love to hear from collectors of other genres, and what you have, I wish I`d taken better care of all my things, when younger !

Don't know where my Star Wars figures went but naturally they were opened and played with. One of my mates was very spoiled and had the Millenium Falcon and the Death Star.

I've got a soft Yoda who says "Do or do not; there is no try!" One of my training props. (Not for sale.)
Such a shame that the scripts of the six "later" Episodes (1, 2, 3, 7, 8, & 9) weren't as good as the "first" films (Episodes 4, 5, & 6), especially as George Lucas realised that the working title "Revenge of the Jedi" had to be changed to "Return of the Jedi" because a Jedi wouldn't do revenge.

Was that the cardboard Death Star Wukkie ? Those things are highly sought after now ! Hope you come across them figures one day.
Is that from the 77-85 period WLYC ? You`re right to keep hold of it, there are Yoda hand puppets, from the early 80`s, that are quite rare.
The prequels have grown on me over the years, the last 3 though, have not. Like so many modern films, they try to force comedy into it, and it just comes across as really cringey, when just a bit of light humour, here and there, would have worked better.
There is Revenge of the Jedi merchandise out there, they started on it, before Lucas made the change, and unsurprisingly, it makes really good money.

Great enthusiasm! Our Yoda is more recent and most unlikely to be a collectable item. But he looks great and the audio serves a useful training purpose.

There`s a TON of modern stuff out there, it can be hard to find the vintage items, but I came close to one of those talking Yoda`s once, in a job lot, but lost out in the end. Would have liked one to sit on the shelf, and talk now and then !
And the Baby Yoda`s from the Mandalorian are still selling well, £50+ every time I see them listed on ebay.

The death star was cardboard yes. I distinctly remember the shoot to the garbage bin where Han Solo ended up in.
I got a dog when I was 4 year old and wanted to call it Skywalker but parents wouldn't let me so we settled on Chewbacca!

That`s awesome !
A collector friend of mine told me about a chap in the UK, who was one of the BIG collectors of SW stuff, and was apparently called Mr Star Wars, due to his standing in that community. He had in his possession, about 12-15 brand new, and mint in the box Death Star Playsets. Think he might have worked for Palitoy at some time, and got them through there.
He apparently sold all of them, and got about £5K for the lot.
Some years later, they were changing hands for £5K+ EACH !
He took his own life, not long after this, and it was believed it was down to how little he sold them for. Such a shame.

Crossbows & Catapaults...from around 84-86 I wanted it EVERY Christmas, but never ended up with a set.
Tin Can Alley was another, I BEGGED for that for many years, but was told I couldn`t have it.
Looking back, I see why my parents didn`t want me to have any kind of gun.

Orfc - Are you actively after a vintage one, or were you wanting a modern version ? Don`t have one, but the puck and ball bearings are the kind of things you can find in charity shops, in those little boxes full of toy cars and duplo.
I swear I read a post in here yesterday, about a Tie Fighter Pilot ?!

I swear I read a post in here yesterday, about a Tie Fighter Pilot ?! That was me, tried to edit it, ballsed it up and ended up just deleting it in frustration. I have one that I got in the 90s, think it's from the 70s/80s but I don't know as it is just the figure, no box. Doubt it's worth anything.

Cheers blues86, thought I imagined it, and needed some time away !
If you have it to hand, on the back of the leg should read - LFL 1982, and on the other leg, the country of origin, which should be Hong Kong.
They`re not worth much, but you should get £5-8 for it, if you put it on ebay.
It depends on condition, if the decals on the side of the helmet, and the shoulders are nice and clear, then you might get a bit more for it, but there is an odd thing with this figure, than can have collectors bidding more than usual for it.
The smell.
Yes, you read that right.
This was a strange one, as it had a bizarre scent when you gave it a sniff. Some say it`s cherries, some say raspberries, but for me it will always be strawberries. In my mind, I can still picture the moment, and see the room I was in back in about 83 when I took this figure off the card, and got a whiff of the smell.
Some believe it`s the degradation of the plastic used, when it was exposed to air, after being taken out of the air tight seal. Whilst some think it was someone at Palitoy tipping some scent into the mixture for a laugh. But so far, no-one has confessed to this.
But if it does still have that smell to it, then you`ll probably get around £20 for it. I have about 12 of them, and sadly none of them still have the scent, but a friend of mine has a load of them, and he swears he can still smell it on a couple of them.
Not a wind up, this is genuine ! So give it a sniff !

Anyone out there, with a collection of Star Wars, and in particular - the cardbacks. Have a look and see if you have one of these.. Known as a General Madine on a Tri-logo cardback, to some, this is the "Holy Grail" of Star Wars collecting, and rare as rocking horse poop, as my Father would say. The figure on its own, you`ll struggle to get £1 for. But for the cardback, if you still have one, they can fetch £1K+ And if you somehow have the whole thing, unopened, like the one above, then you`re in for a big payday, as there is currently one on sale over in the US, and it`s current price is $21K and climbing.
