Remember the goalless draw with a Bradford on Boxing Day of that season, Branthwaite didn’t have the best of games and Webster dug him out on more than one occasion. Webster was a disaster under Pressley when he was expected to be a ball playing centre half. Once Beech came in and told him just to head it and clear it he was massively improved.

Sky currently have us as joint 2nd favourites with Port Vale for promotion at 11/4. Chesterfield favourites at 9/4. All downhill from here then! 🤣🤣🤣

Just watched the Bromley play off win and they have far more pace throughout their team than we have they’d rip us apart

Pressley was one of the most clueless managers we ever had. Took over an inform team, threw away our play off hopes and then had us struggling badly the season after and him and Holdsworths 1 year contract policy for new players didn't help either. What was that all about? Not known anything like it. 😂

The fourth division can be a very simple league with little need for complex tactics and thinking outside the box. Always struck me as someone who had a head full of grand ideas, most of which we weren’t in need of. I don’t think he was clueless, just misunderstood what was needed at the level we were at. Interesting asking a long-time servant of the club who the best manager he worked under was and he said, for knowledge of the game and thoroughness, it was Pressley. He was probably suited to other roles within the game, just not manager of a League Two club!

He'll have been on the uefa coaching licence course and obviously swallowed everything. Keep things simple, stupid as far as L2 is concerned.

Someone mentioned Kevin Betsy on here the other day, he was pretty much the same at Crawley. He’d previously been in charge of Arsenal u23’s which will be very much play out from the back, possession based football. He tried that with Crawley, who simply weren’t equipped for such tactics, and they looked hopeless as a result. First day of last season up here, it was ridiculous some of the football they were trying to play, not suited to League Two at all and we were just picking them off every time, god knows how it was only 1-0. He only lasted a couple of months.

Bromley, obviously another southern team but doable on the day via Victoria and fairly comfortable for getting back from Euston

Having said that he was pretty shite!

The FA Trophy Final today has thrown up an 'if only pairing' as either of these teams could have been celebrating a promotion and cup winning year if things had gone differently for them in the semi finals.
