I'm pretty sure when Simpson took over he said he had a 3 year plan for promotion. Since he is now at the end of his 2nd year he still has another year for his plan to happen. So all the negatively now seems unjustified while his plan is still in place. Sometimes you have to take a step back to go forward. Let's see what the summer brings and take it from there.

Part of it seems to be to screw the club over for another 12 months of salary

We actually don't have any choice do we? Him, gav and Greg will be here next year, so we just have to get on with it. And they had zero money in summer 23, this year there will be more. Cause for mild optimism

I would doubt very much that Year 2 of the plan was to produce one of the worst seasons in the clubs history

The three year plan should have been ripped up the moment we won promotion, and replaced with another one. The negativity may be draining, but it is an inevitable consequence of an abject failure of a season.

Not sure about a step back, more like a jump into the bottom half of L2.

Never a good idea to take a step back if you're standing on the edge of a cliff.
