Hope Barbara has a good retirement!
We’ve had plenty of disagreements on MBs in the past but have always respected each others opinion 😉
She managed to snap us again yesterday.

Happy retirement Barbara, hope you enjoy being able to sit down for the full 90 minutes.
Unless your joining the Paddock gang.

Happy retirement... who'll take 500 pictures of the crowd at matches now though? 😀

How many years have you been doing it for Bumble? Hopefully you will still be following the blues? Although you might miss the pitch side view.

It all sort of evolved really. Andy Hall and I started an unofficial website about Carlisle United in 2000. It was well received and the media officer at the club asked if we would be interested in helping out with articles for the programme and occasional stuff for the Official site. A couple of years later, Phil, the Media Manager left and we were asked if we would take on the media for the club. We both had full-time jobs but we decided to give it a go. It wasn't the amount of work back then, we had the Official site, the programme, and Facebook but not half the social media there is now. Even so, sleep was quite a luxury.
At that time I was doing interviews and articles (first to admit whilst I am decent at research and asking questions I am not the best writer, that was Andy's department). The club didn't have an away photographer and I was asked if I would take it on. My first game where I supplied photos for the club was 24 Feb 2007, away at Cheltenham (Joe Garner scored the only goal of the game). My photos weren't great but I learned quickly. A few years later I got asked if I would like to do photos for the News and Star and when I left the club in 2010 I continued doing away games for the paper but also worked for an agency that would send me anywhere in the North from nonleague to the Premiership. It was a great time to do football photography in the North with Bolton, Wigan and Blackburn in the Premiership along with Man City and the other big boys. I really enjoyed that time but the traveling was a bind and my husband wasn't in good health so after a few years I decided to work for myself and mostly stick with the club I support.

Fantastic, sounds like the perfect job to travel around taking pictures of football all over the NW, sure the reality of it was not as romantic as it sounds. Enjoy your retirement bumble and hopefully see you at BP and away games next season.

Enjoy your retirement, Barbara - now you can just take photos for yourself. Show them off to family and friends. No having to please know-nothing photo editors, eh? Are you going to sell the pictures you take (calendars, coasters, mouse-mats, etc)?
Having said that - an odd picture or two would brighten this place up no end...

Best of luck for the future.
I've enjoyed looking at the faces in the crowd over the years and generally managed to avoid capture, apart from one occasion. Some great pictures of my family in there also.
Will we get another fan to step into the role or will it be some randomer?
