Greg's got a shortlist and a longlist of players who have were either born, lived or have driven through a 15 mile radius of Bradford. He's also keeping tabs on former Carlisle players. Should be a good season next year with Andy Cook and Gary Madine leading the line and Richard Keogh at the back. I don't want to be contrary, but it's just not funny, because it could be true. Dear fckn God help us. Do not screw this up Greg

Hope to god we use our new resources well. Don't want us to simply burn cash on players who don't suit our squad because of a lack of ambition in scouting. Anyone saying we should be chasing 'championship level' players like I've seen on here in the past are delusional. We should look for a combination of experienced L1 and upper L2 operators who have been promoted before from this league, young players from Premier League / Championship level teams like Neal, who are wanting to get their careers started properly and maybe a couple of project players in the mold of Chris Conn-Clarke (although he's a step above project probably). Players who can step up in time, and challenge the older players for their positions consistently. If we're using statistics based scouting, there's no way we should end up on deadline day with Abbott checking his address book for mates who are willing to throw him an injury prone lad or useless off-cut.

First and foremost, I want a leader on the pitch. A seasoned pro, from higher up, who won`t get game time this season where he is, and who is looking for a way into management in the future. Someone to take charge of the team during a match, and to lessen the burden on Simpson & Gav to keep barking instructions from the dugout.
Pace won`t matter as much at this level, so we can afford to do this, and who knows, it might help Lavelle get back to form.
Someone who can come in, and who we`ll pay for coaching badges etc, and for them to learn this side of the game, and who`d be an extra coach on and off the pitch, and with a possible view of taking over one day.
Thought that player might have been Huntingdon, but seemingly not.

A manager bringing in a future manager, hm. Certainly at goal keeper it makes sense.
At this stage I'd settle for some understanding of what he is trying to do. The comments in the interview unsettled me. I've told several players they can leave, but I won't say who, the fans will get onto them. Just doesn't ring true to me. If he says armer can leave, then Jack leads the team out on 1 August, why is Jack guilty of anything? Just smacks that he doesn't have faith that his recruitment team will find a better player.
I'm starting to sound like Tim now

I do wonder if last season was the culmination of older pro`s, knowing more than the current boss, and not wanting a repeat of that, we`ll only see players under 30 or so, being signed over the summer, so they know who`s in charge.
But Simpson has taken the approach I do in the Football Manager games, I tell them they`re not wanted, and want them to move on, but the difference is, I don`t scout strictly in one place, so know I can find a replacement, and make sure those players never put the shirt on again. If only real life was this simple ?!

Let’s face it this season has been a disaster from start to finish We ended last season knowing we had to recruit well to stay in league 1 ,the summer recruitment was appalling. this was followed in November by a statement that we we will have a major recruitment in January because the team not squad needed major improvements. Massive PR boob ,the last thing you want is to slag your players off before you replace them. Then we end up not getting the players in January we wanted or needed. If You had to put on paper what not to do in a season just take a long look at what we did.

Armstrong is terrible. Will we try to offload him/cut our losses? Of all the players who deserve a bit of slack and a chance next season it's Armstrong in my opinion.

Our hit rate on loanees is about 1 in 5, for every Bridges (2005!), Chester, Osman (2002!), O'hare over the years, there's literally half a dozen Sorensons & Omotoyes a season who are either appalling, injured, or have a bad attitude (or all 3)
We've definitely upped the ante on crippling them this season though. Other teams won't want to send them if they get knacked training on Sunday league level facilities which is why we need the training centre up and running.

Makes me sad how many times I hear about other teams loan signings, playing a blinder, and showing some class.
The Arbalaster(sp) lad who was at Port Vale last year, from the sound of things, he was lighting it up, and although he got recalled, I`d love for us to sign someone who can give us just half a season of quality.
Really hoping for better in this dept next season, as we shouldn`t need to rely on it the way other teams do.
Data analysts do your work.....

What Strategy Would That Be Then ? Nail and head. I want Sam lavelle to go but I can't say that publicly because I don't trust my recruitment team to find a better player, so Sam could be leading us out in September.

Not sure if this has already beeb asked and answered, but when can clubs start buying players? We can organise pre-contracts that become valid on June 30th / July 1st, and can choose whether or not to announce it beforehand. We can also agree deals with clubs for transfers, then sign pre-contracts with the players, and they'll go into effect when the window opens on June 14th as far as I know. Again, we may hold off on the announcements. It's likely gonna be a quiet end of April and May while the club works on stuff.
