38 yrs ago today, Jim Tolmie happened. The most ridiculous and costly OG in our history. I haven't ever called for anyone (genuine) to be banned from our forum, but I'm sorely tempted to after this clickbait then punch in the nuts. Did you go to Oldham, Waterlogged?

Yep, old 2nd division. Bob Stokoes final game. Proper footballing era.

Yep, old 2nd division. Bob Stokoes final game. Proper footballing era. I reckon Stokoe felt guilty for recommending Pop Robson as our manager for the start of that season, stepping back into the role when Robson (literally) fled the building. Was a huge mistake not offering Tommy Craig the position.

Absolutely. Tommy Craig, one of the finest players ever to play for us, in hindsight should have been manager instead of Pop Robson. Old 2nd division, penniless, hooliganism, the Scratching Shed. Great days despite relegation.

Pop Robson was a great player as well. Remember his goal away at Chester that got us up. Seems a life away now

My first Season was 85/86, we got relegated.
My second Season was 86/87, we got relegated. Again.
My third Season was 87/88, we finished 23rd of 24 and just avoided relegation into Non-League.
If ever someone says “this is shit” down at BP, simply point them to 85-88 inclusive and tell them to pipe down…

It took years to recover from that.Highlights the importance of make a good fist of next season.

So basically the last 40 years is all Piglet's fault.

Isn't it 50 years since we got promoted to the Premier? 3 months before I started supporting the team

Didn't we go 2 nil up? Tolmie played quite well except for that goal. Scott endersby? Lennie Lawrence was their manager. Just a haze really

Wes Saunders scoring a diving header into the Warwick Road End. T*lmie's goal right on half-time changed the momentum completely, Charlton hadn't had a sniff until that point.
