Holy 6 - kept a clean sheet, but an early error nearly scuppered that - poor first touch and then failed to clear properly, when he really should have been comfortably clearing. Seems reluctant to come for the ball on occasion.
Senior 7.5 - solid, no nonsense performance. Cleared unceremoniously when in doubt, and restricted Newport's progress down their left hand side. Looked sharp, and will gain a lot of confidence from today.
Feeney 7 - another solid performance. Could probably have done better with his chance in the second half.
Huntington 6 - struggled with Zanzala in the first half, and was rightly booked for a late challenge on him. The change to a back four yielded positive results from him though, and he had a good second half.
Mellish 7 - his move into midfield produced the desired effect, his presence denied Newport the time and space they'd previously been enjoying in the middle of the pitch.
Armer 6.5 - Largely solid as usual, probably should have scored in the second half when set up by Patrick. Newport's few second half chances did seem to come from the left though.
Guy 8.5 - absolutely everywhere today, particularly in the second half. So much sharper than he was at Doncaster. My MOTM.
Moxon 6 - A couple of excellent passes aside, I felt a lot of what he tried didn't come off today. His corner delivery is second to none at this level though.
Gibson 8 - Grew in confidence today, and showed what he's capable of in the second half. Beat players, passed it well, and nearly scored. The Gibson we saw in the second half is one we need to see more of.
Dennis 7.5 - typical Dennis in the first half, not involved at all but then pounced on a mistake and finished clinically. Showed guile and awareness to set up JKG for the second.
Gordon 8 - Very encouraging debut in difficult conditions. He worked hard, did his share of defensive duties, and grew into the game. Excellent goal on his debut, and this guy could well be a huge player for us.
Subs:
Patrick 7.5 - sharp, up to speed very quickly, and a real threat. Unlucky not to earn an 'assist' when setting up Armer. Pleased to see him back, and he's done himself no harm with this contribution.
McCalmont and TSS - N/A. Not on long enough to be given a rating.
