You’ve sparked some memories there. Yewdale to Belle Vue is a little bit of a walk just for stickers. I mean, not far (I used to do the opposite direction daily to Morton school). But to buy panini stickers seems dedicated. I used to do a paper round for McQuillan’s around that time. Happy days. Wasn’t really into the panini stickers myself. But brother was fanatical. I remember he even had an advert for swapping/selling. More than a few people turned up. Cheers piglet. You’ve really helped me reminisce It's not far on a bike, especially if you live somewhere inbetween On foot you're right, Beck Road would've been a bit of a grind on a hot day... Assuming it’s the shop I’m thinking of in bellevue… What kind of idiot would go up beck road to get to it from yewdale? Surely (even on a bike) you’d go down coalfell or rudchester, then through the park and straight up beaver road.

My starting point was in Sandsfield Park, typically the choice was either Hutton Way or McQuillans, it was rare to hit both on the same day. So the cut from Castlesteads to Green Lane was easily reachable from my house. It would've made little sense to involve Coalfell or Beaver Road in the equation, without a bit of a pointless detour.

To get to Rudchester Close is still miles out of the way. Beck road was a good old hill though, and that’s before you’re presented with another hill heading up to the shop. I’d have still cut out beck road, even going through your cut. Just go along to beaver. There’s even a crossing at the end of it to get over the main road to the shop.

I used to think that if you got stickers from a shop that you go to less frequently then they would be more lucky.
My hunting ground was usually the old sweet shop, Rodney's at Boundary or the Post Office/newsagents over the road that used to sell everything under the sun from DC Comics to Loony Tunes trading cards, harmonicas - oh and those background drawings that you got and a set of transfers that you had to scribble on the back of to put them where you wanted them in the drawing.
They also sold Action Jack, a mini action man figure that came in a cigarette packet size box with a load of weapons or tools, these were great as they only cost something like thirty pence, if you pulled the gadgies head off though he would fall to pieces and no matter how hard you tried you could not fix it - don't think I knew anyone who had not done this themselves however.

Just went to check my Mexico 86 album, but it`s not where I thought it was, only the Italia 90 one is there ! It was actually in a drawer, where I stashed all my vinyl, but moved them all out a few months back, and only that album remains. I think I`ve done the same as you Munchy, and put it somewhere so safe, I can`t find it ! If that fails pal check between the plump breasts of your Razzle and Fiesta collection and you may find some joy. Reminds me of my old school pal who delivered papers and was a bit light handed with the delights from the top shelf, amassed himself a great little collection beneath his bedroom carpet underneath the loose floor board. I can only guess that his Mam had watched one of those tv programmes 'is your child on drugs' and had gone on a hunt - he came home to his porn stash on the living room floor, his mother in tears and threatening to call the police. "An old school pal" Yeah right Hope your Mam recovered.

"An old school pal" Yeah right Hope your Mam recovered. Haha - It is my pal I go to the pub with, I only reminded him about this recently at the pub as I thought it was a good story and I wanted to know what happened. He started to tell me, then he started to speak a lot slower and looked really uncomfortable about it, then said ah **** it was years ago and wouldn't talk about it any more. Mine were stashed in the Crossbows And Catapults game on the top of the wardrobe, it was doubtful that my parents would fancy a game, nobody was going to find them there. Came home one day and my nephews were merrily playing away with Crossbows And Catapults on the kitchen floor so I naturally shit myself. There was no porn to be seen and nothing was said, then a few weeks later my Mam muttered that she had got rid of those mucky magazines to my shame and horror. They were stashed on top of the boiler in the airing cupboard next, although I had learned from the previous incident to not get too attached to them after that.

WTF is this ?! why are you cluttering this thread with your village lane, pathway, and paper round nonsense ??
Take it to the "old routes of Carlisle, we used to travel" and "where did I hide my naughty magazines" thread.
Crossbows and Catapaults ?! What is this silliness ?!
Or better yet, take it to a toy related thread if you can find one.

The cuts, becks, streets, hedgerows and fields of Sandsfield Park and surrounding areas are very much in my DNA seeing as I moved there when it was pretty much still a building site. The discussion about Panini World Cup collecting is a gateway into your own childhood memories, if you grew up in a different part of town - share the love, man.

No. I wasn’t that familiar with Green lane. I knocked about round there a bit so know the surrounding streets and the park behind but not so much the details of houses etc.
