Why don't you just admit you hate the club and go infest some other clubs board. They have already got the club debt free which in itself is enormous. Here we have a prime example of a Piatak cult member. For them the Piataks can do no wrong and anyone who dares to be (justifiably) critical "hates the club". They believe the Piataks should be above criticism and we should worship them without question. *Just for the record the club is not "already" debt free. And it will not be "already" debt free for the next five years (at least). But for a Piatak cult member "debt free" does not mean debt free.

I know there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth because you're not allowed to be critical of the Piataks at all in the slightest - they can do no wrong, etc. However, we can judge them by their own words, or by Tom Snr's words to be precise. 1) " we’re open and transparent" - Hold that thought. 2) " We have short, mid and long term plans. Short term is to survive in League One." Fail3) " We’re going into the January transfer window looking to be pretty active by shoring up the squad" Fail4) " We have a strong management team, with Nigel Clibbens as chief executive and Suzanne Kidd as chief financial officer and then Paul. We have a great leadership group." Fail - On Clibbens and Kidd's watch the club found itself £3 million in debt and was in thralldom to Philip Day. 5) " I’m a big believer that you have to invest initially." you could've fooled me: Fail6) " I believe if you build it, they will come". He actually said this. They will not come if the team is one of the worst in our history, no matter what you "build": Fail7) " With the ‘Own the North’ branding, I mentioned the phrase in a presentation with the Carlisle United official supporters’ club and it’s kind of taken on a life of its own. We love that and when a club come to Carlisle we want them to know it’s going to be a tough place to play." Fail8) " I’m a firm believer that Carlisle belongs no worse than League One. Probably the Championship would be its right spot. If we can get three to five years from now and get mid-table in the Championship, that would be a tremendous success. The Premier League? I would never say no." Hard Fail. 9) " We’re planning for League One. If for any reason we don’t maintain [our current League One status], we’re planning for League One next year and we’re planning to have a squad that can get us back to League One. We’re not saying ‘either or’, we’re planning to basically build a League One squad because we’d want to come back and be strong" Fail10) " We have been competitive in most matches. Sometimes one or two things go your way" Fail11) " I definitely believe the players we have added in the January transfer window can help us in the short-term and long-term. I believe we made really good decisions in a very difficult window" Fail12) " We have a third of the season left. We can survive League One – it is realistic and achievable, even if it is getting more difficult and that’s still our goal" Fail13) "We’ve told him early on this is a long-term process and he is part of the plan, I think he is an outstanding manager. He’s doing everything he can and I do believe he is the right manager at the right time for what we’re trying to do." Fail14) " He added that there is a “minimum” target of what should be expected over the remaining 16 games, but said that is an “internal” matter within the club." Refer to #1 - " we’re open and transparent" - Double Fail.Their own words. What a disgrace. Ok so what now? If they're such a disgrace should we wish for them to leave so we can get new owners again? How about that Turkish consortium? Or should we just bring back the three custodians? No. Honesty and a bit of integrity is required from them, for a change. I'd like to see them have the balls to apologize to the fans for screwing things up so badly. To admit they've made horrendous mistakes and take full responsibility for relegating the club. All the peripheral plans should be deferred until the issues with the team are resolved. Secondary plans should become secondary and the principle focus should be on the team. Then I'd like to see a full and proper restructuring of the club's management structure, root and branch, with a knowledgeable "head of football operations" brought in to advise them after a full review.

Piglet would make a good barrister as he has set out a solid case for the prosecution. However I think the Piataks are only guilty of naivety. I think they genuinely thought when they took the reins that they could spend money in January and buy protection from relegation. However from December onwards the scale of the task became ever more daunting, our key targets didn't want to join us and morale in the squad collapsed. The Piataks' grand pronouncements when viewed now in the cold light of day give the impression that they have jumped into the deep end and sank to the bottom. But as they have said they are here for the long term. This will have been a bruising learning experience for them but I have no doubt that they'll be ringing the changes over the summer and will be determined to have a good campaign in 2024-25. Naivety, certainly but also they've been taken in by the Simpsons stories of future greatness due to their management and tactical skills. If they have contacts outside of the Simpsons family who know anything about English football, hopefully they'll see there is a future without them. They've already taken advice from fellow American owners of Portsmouth, Cambridge and Bournemouth (allegedly).

What's your view on the Piatak failure? Are you a rational, objective type of guy or a cult member?

We are going to judge their ownership after 4/5 months? I think for people who have the attention span greater than that of a small child can wait a bit. Let's see where we are at the end of October. I hope we will have a good l2 budget, if we're struggling then complaints will be valid

At least you can if you've got a greater mental capacity than a three year old.

Take note, when correcting other people’s grammar/spelling, check your own. Sometimes you can’t edit them quickly enough. 🙂
