Simpson talking about bringing the young lads who are playing at Reds back, before the Cheltenham game, can Nugent and Kilsby be recalled or not? probably not it's between Scottish FA and EFL so think it's classed as international even though it's just loan deals

Our top summer target started for Queens park today. They lost 5 0, at home. The future is so bright

As this squad has on the whole failed at L1 level, would it be better to get rid of them now rather than keep them for next season, with them knowing if we get back in L1 they'll be released? Getting them to play well enough to get the team promoted, then them being out of a job would be like the proverbial turkeys voting for Christmas scenario. If the money's available wouldn't it be best to have a massive clear out and buy player's who could keep the club in a L1 mid table position, rather than repeating last season's mistakes.

Probably too expensive to get rid unfortunately given the length of contract doled out by the fools signing them. Under normal circumstances the final game of the season when a team goes up is normally the last time a team plays together. However in our case ……….,

You would hope we can afford to buy contracted players out if we choose to, my list of who I would want out the door gets bigger after every game, most of this lot dont do themslves any favours, wouldnt have many of the team out today playing next season !

We won’t need to buy contracted players unless there is someone we really want. The free agent market in the summer always has plenty of quality available.

There`s only one contract that needs tearing up, but it will likely be extended over the summer.
As...you know....there`s only one single person, anywhere, who can do that particular job...we`re told.

In: GKs: Lewis - We spent money and he should be good enough in L2. Breeze - He should be backup and is good enough to deputize. Need 1 more backup here, someone experienced in the same vein as Scott Carson for Man City, a good lad. Def: Mellish - Come on, no way we'd sell him Lavelle - He's more than good enough for L2. Barclay - He should be a backup next year because of his flexibility, and it seems he's been professional this year. Hunts - I think he'll be a coach / backup. He's good enough to play though IMO. Armer - Good enough for L2, and this year will hopefully have taught him a few lessons. Robinson - Should be a backup, I think he's not been terrible in L1, but been played out of position and has been our best player in a couple of games. Ellis - Been impressed with him, and he should be competing with a solid RB for the no 1 position next year. Kilsby - Not sure, but has shown enough in L1 Scotland to be worth a shot pre-season. Might need another loan. Need 1 more RB at least, 2 more CBs, 1 more LB if Robinson goes or we decide we need more flexibility. Not sure if Simmo will bin a few more though and go for some real turnover. Mid: Vela - Showed plenty before he got injured. Guy - Obviously, hope he recovers well from his injury. Neal - Should dominate L2 ideally. Charters - Hope he overcomes injury issues, he's played well at points this season. McGeouch - Showed plenty this season, and should be a backup next year. Nugent - Might be worth a go given how well he's done on loan, although he'll be a backup for sure. We need at least 3 more CMs in my opinion if we're going with 3-5-2. Fwd: Kelly - Unlucky this season with injury, and looks solid. Armstrong - Best forward we've had for a while, I think he'll look great in a better team. Butterworth - Maybe controversial but he's got plenty of quality and should be competing for the position as a backup. The area requiring the most additions. We need 4 more wingers, and another striker. We should be looking at serious loans in this area. Out: GKs: Holy - Out of contract and out of the team. Andresson - Crap and out of loan deal. Def: Back - Won't come "back" surely even though I do like him, although I think his fitness issues will be a problem for him going forward. Emmanuel - Nowhere near consistently fit enough for me to want him here long term. Whelan - Mistreated in my opinion, as he's never let us down. Maybe Simmo just doesn't like him. Mid: McCalmont - Get him gone. Unprofessional and not good enough on the pitch to make it worth the gamble. Harris - Seems a good lad but hasn't improved enough since coming in for me (another issue with the coaches?), he won't take us forwards. Gibson - What a sad ending to what I thought would be a brilliant spell at our club. On his day unplayable, but he just doesn't seem to get on well enough with Simmo, and the recent Botch outing seems to have ended his career here. Fwd: Diamond - I doubt he'll drop to L2, and to be honest I've not been convinced by him so far. More impressed with Butterworth, despite his obvious flaws as a player. Maguire - Really thought he'd be great for us, but has given up on those great runs in behind he did early on, and can't get a game now. Ablade - Will be a trivia answer in a few years for us. That header assist against Burton was fun though. Kayode - Can't be bothered having our squad filled with players who manage 10 games or less in a year. Overall, some serious turnover in the summer I think.

I think the defenders will need thinned out a bit as I agree we need 2 FBs and a couple of CBs, I would probably look to move Robinson and either Lavelle or Barclay on. Then I suppose it depends on what Hunts is doing but it's worth having a senior pro who can help on the coaching side as well.

There are far too many, they'll be fine in L2 comments, we need them to be more than fine in L1 if we get promoted again and if we can assemble a squad that could go up next season and challenge the season after we have to do that, keeping a whole load of players that have flopped badly in the hope that another season in L2 will improve them for L1 will only end up in disaster.

Yes, I can understand that, especially if Simmo gets his reserve team that he wants.
