That Bury game was certainly one to remember. They were up there with us at the time, and we absolutely smashed them in front of a full house, most of us turning up still full of....shall we say post Christmas spirit(s). Thomas, Currie, Reeves, Conway, Deano, et al. Happy days....jumpers for goalposts, I'll say.

We filled that open kop end opposite end to the away end now. Amazing couple of days to be a Carlisle fan.

And maybe even better for me because I got a Sony Walkman with a 3 band graphic equaliser for Christmas to listen to on the journey to Victoria Park.

I'm going to take a punt and say you listened to Ace of Base in the supporters coach on your new Walkman that day?

I must admit the Wadsworth side was one of my favourites albeit I've seen much better ones over the years. The side were packed full of characters and there was a real buzz about the place. We certainly had the buzz last year but lost much of it this season. Its really important we stop the rot and get it back again quickly. How do you define "better"? For me it was a pleasure to pay to watch the likes of Thomas, Currie, latterly Hayward, the commitment of Deano and Darren Edmondson and the defensive class of Derek Mountfield. You knew, home or away, you were very likely to be entertained. I can't disagree with your comments PP as that's why I say Wadsworth's side was one of my all time favourite sides. I define "better" in the sense of teams who performed at a higher level and with greater levels of skill. Some on here aren't old enough to have seen us in L1 or watch players like Bowles,Balderstone, Hatton, Ross etc in the 70's. Others may not have seen us in the 80's challenging again to get up to L1 with the likes of Beardsley, Craig, Shoulder etc. Later still we had the 1st Simpson era. All of those sides were objectively "better" than Wadsworth's team but I don't think I have enjoyed a season more than the 94/5 season. Part of the enjoyment came from off field events too such as my age at the time, mates I was going to games with and also things were going well personally. All of this coincided with the excitement generated by Knighton and Wadsworth and the team was packed with big characters. For that short season everything seemed possible. We were champions, played at Wembley and produced some excellent football along the way. Two games stood out for me: Thrashing Bury in front of a full house with hundreds locked out. Watching Concorde fly elegantly over Craven Cottage as we gave Fulham a football lesson. Great days.

Don't think I've had many better away days than Fulham that day overall (not just the game).

On the same bill as Capella. Also Bucks Fizz, original lineup, the following year in 1995 which was possibly the most insane gig I've ever witnessed.

Chesterfield away was a cracker as well. Other than Westwood at Leeds, Tony Elliot's performance is the best by at Utd keeper in my time watching the blues. The best performance by a Utd GK I ever saw, was away at Bristol City, around 20 years or so ago, Westwood had a blinder and I think it ended 1-1. None Carlisle fan, mate of mine who came along, thought he was the best keeper he`d ever seen. Best performance by a non-Carlisle keeper I`ve ever seen, and the same mate agreed, as he was also with me for that one... John Leslie in the charity match before kickoff at the Wembley final vs Birmingham. The man was throwing himself at everything ! Did the 2Unlimited lass get married ? I swear her last name was Dels ? Just checked the CD I have, and it says A.Dels on it. Funnily enough, the CD was right under my Capella one, and above the Urban Cookie Collective, and Utah Saints.

Dels birth name. Doth stage name. I know someone who slept with John Leslie pre-Wembley (not immediately pre-Wembley) funnily enough. Just the one time.

You lot were listening to some quite scandalous music back then. Anita was top notch in her youth uff.
Anyhow stop rubbing it in about the Bury match as I was one of those locked out!
