It’s official, pointswise it’s been our worst season ever since we joined the football league 96 years ago.
Only twice have we managed less than 30 points in a FL season, 23pts in 34/35 and 29pts in 74/75, but they were both 2pts for a win, they equated to 31pts and 41pts respectively as 3pts for a win. Even then they were in 42 game seasons.
Our lowest 3pts for a win season was 34pts in 91/92 but that again was only 42 games. The lowest previous tally in a 3pts for a win, 46 game season was 38 in 86/87.
Equated to a 3pts for a win, 46 game season, our worst ever…
2023/24 30pts 1934/35 34pts 1991/92 37pts 1986/87 38pts

Who needs stats like goals scored?! Just clouds the issue, who was the real winner. And no impact on points.
Your analysis isn't weighted for the quality of opposition. Finishing bottom of the Premier is worse than mid table in the fourth?

I have watched that many lazy, half arsed performances from that lot this season that have spoiled my Saturday night that I wouldn't be bothered if they all went.
Maybe keep Mellish, Butterworth, Emmanuel and Gibson.
Butterworth deserves praise as he actually improved over the season, bit weird that he burnt out when pushed and Simmo worked him so hard that he broke him like a toy.

Whichever way you look at it this season has been an appalling anti climax after the Wembley heroics. Simmo deserved bucket loads of credit last season but he's been found wanting this time. The Piataks have made their position clear but putting Simmo and Abbott in charge of summer recruitment is risky. Personally I'm not convinced any of the January additions are of the required standard. I'm loathe to totally write them off because they joined a disorganised squad who were on the slide. That said, I'd not be disappointed if we lost any of them in the summer. Lewis, Armstrong, Neal, Diamond etc haven't yet shown enough to warrant a regular place in a side aiming for promotion.

Its a little like 'The Apprentice'
The management team...'go away and discuss where it went wrong... when you come back, at least one of you will be sacked'

This has certainly been the most disappointing season I`ve known.
I thought I`d be watching the highlights from Wembley last year, for a long time. But this season has taken the gloss off that day, and knowing the disappointment that followed, I`m not sure I could watch them again.

There was a huge mismatch between the club and the fans. The clubhad fall outs, terrible results, staff walking out. Whereas the fans have turned out in thousands.
Seasons at the end of the 80s into the 90s were worse. Aiden mccaffrey, dear god, crowds of 2500.

In all my years as a supporter it's one of a very few seasons that I'm pleased, glad, relieved it's finished. We could do with good news fairly quickly on recruitment.

The late 80s and early 90's sides were the worst ones I've seen us put out. The later Knighton teams were almost as bad. This season however has been the one in which we've been most out of our depth and is in many ways the most disappointing.

While the whole results, backroom staff, player bickering has been a pile, we have the takeover. I hope in 5 years time we'll look back and see this season as pivotal. Ultimately, we appear to have secured our future and dealt with the debt. That's more important than a weekly gubbing.
If we can come out the blocks in August, home defeats to Cambridge and Wycombe will seem a long way off
