www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cprg52e3201oDecent article on the BBC sport site, but it neglects his playing career. 159 games for us and over 100 games for Liverpool. Is anyone on here old enough to remember him playing for the club? (Maybe when he returned, mid 60's?)

I saw my first game in March 1963 just before my 6th Birthday and although I know the name he played for Carlisle United before my time

The article is about his scouting abilities really but it does mention he played for us in there.

Twentyman's last game for us was in February 1963. Edit: No, I'm a year early. His last game for us was February 1964. If you'd attended games at the start of the 63/64 promotion season you'd have seen him play for us.

My first game was the Gateshead cup tie 4-3 see above he may well have played but have no recollection which makes sense if his last game was Feb 1964

McIlmoyle scored a hat-trick in the Gateshead game.
Twentyman did not play in that fixture, but did play away at Preston in the fifth round.

(Note the Pioneer advertising) Yes, I noticed that, shame we didn't employ him as a scout instead of letting him become an egg picker.

Yes big pitch invasion my dad took me in the scratching pen we were around half way line and Ross kicked the ball out McIlmoyle collected right on the touch line in front of me yards away and my recollection is beat some players and blasted it in from long range might well have been the winning goal think we’d been 2-3 down the lad Mitchell? The Author On the old message board was asking for memories for a book on McIlmoyle I believe and that was mine and was it Andy Mitchell? Got back to me and said that’s exactly how Hughie himself recalled the goal… Funny time I still remember it and the subsequent pitch invasion running under the metal bar barrier

After consultation with my elder brother, who has an almost encyclopaedic memory when it comes to Carlisle United, we, along with our dad, attended a 4th division match at Bradford Park Avenue early-ish in the 1963-64 season, which was a promotion season. My brother reckons Geoff Twentyman played in that match, I don`t have a clue, I was nobbut a bairn.
