I wasn't there but the result is embarrassing when you look at the team. Charters had to come off injured too. Report on the website.

Is the result embarrassing or do we give City some credit?

Workmanlike at best. Nobody gave a reason to force their way into our starting XI. Rain was really heavy a couple of times, but it’s the same for both teams. Most folk were happy it was straight to Pens instead of ET first!

I was there really poor performance once again struggled to create anything then wasted any chances we had, then after finally taking the lead a slip up at the back gave City their equalizer. Not a good performance from anyone credit to City though they gave us no room a lot of our passes didn't get past the first man. We are so predictable, by the time we created anything their defence was back and organised the one clear cut chance was for Edmo and he made it easy for the keeper, who incidentally had a really good game he's the keeper who we released. So really disappointing City lost 6-0 at home not to long ago but they have got their act together since then and are doing well in the higher league they are a well organised team.

You would have thought the reserves would take their chance to impress Simmo and make it difficult for him to leave them out. We've won only one in nine so the opportunity to break into the first team is real but nobody seems to be doing enough. Further evidence that the squad contains too many mediocre players. Hopefully this will be addressed in January if the Piataks take over and extra quality can be added.

Can see Simmo getting frustrated with this, we have a large squad, nearly all those players have league experience so you would expect them all to be considered for a place in the team. It feels like the team almost picks itself already. We need more from some players, particularly the ones who have proved they can perform at L2 level and are at a stage in their career where they should be kicking on.

A below average performance, against a team who played with heart and effort. If some of our supposedly 2nd 11 put the same amount into their game they could be pushing for a place on the bench. Sadly though the majority appear to be well short of pushing for a first team slot. Breeze had a steady game, Ellis and Robinson were steady, with Robinson putting some good long range crossfield balls in. Romeo Park was the best of our midfield, with McCalmont having a howler, falling over the ball to give them their equaliser then having his penalty saved and generally not delivering what we saw last season. Butterworth looks very lightweight and was easily bossed off the ball and also wasteful when in possession. Harris tried hard and never gave up but what I've seen of him he's destined for a L2 or NL future. Edmondson continued his poor run of form wasting good chances and showing his poor heading ability. Ablade put loads of effort in and with better service could have done a lot more, his pace and general ball control will continue to be an asset off the bench. Charters didn't do much before his injury, to justify a starting place. Not sure how Simmo saw it from a professional point of view but in my opinion we'll need a big input of class and experience in January, as sadly our squad is lacking in depth. There might be free agents out there but they'll need time to get up to speed so it's looking like we've got to get behind our current starting 11 and be that 12th man. COYB

City were well organised and we were far too slow in our build up. Too often we ended up over hitting long balls forward, especially when the grass got wet. No one played nearly well enough to be considered for a start on Saturday.

Latest in a series of lacklustre performances from those on the fringes of the first team. Not great.

Edmondson, Butterworth and Ablade didn’t set the world on fire. Good experience for the youth team players. Good experience for Man Utd’s under 21’s last night losing 8-1 to Bolton. They were lucky Bolton weren’t at full strength.
