I wanted to say him but now not sure if it wasn't Paul Gorman but Graham was the name on the tip of my tongue . They used to shepherd the opposing winger into the box on a weekly basis lol Apparently Gorman was "like Pelé in training" by all accounts. Just couldn't do it on a Saturday, unfortunately for all concerned. I remember Gorman being booed loudly by home fans as he struggled to make the grade in the first team. Yet, I also heard that he was absolutely fantastic in training. Big shame he couldn't do it when it mattered.

I thought Mike Graham wasn’t too bad although he was much maligned. Comedy gold, Nobbles. He was a horrendous defender. 450 game career including a number in whats now the premier league says otherwise Unlike you i watched him play for each of his clubs in every division of the league and other than Lou Macari there isnt a manager with a bad word to say against him. And i.m not going to roll them out on here but he did things way and beyond during his time at BP including his part in the development of the player who eventually replaced him. And then there was the night in the Autowindscreens v Stockport [ i think it was ] when i got the shock of my life when he ran out of the tunnel to captain the side not bad considering hed only gone up to BP for a session with the physio. But yes i.ll give you that he had an amazing turn of speed when running backwards.

Big shame he couldn't do it when it mattered. Gorman had a decent season 88-9 but we then splashed the Steve Harkness cash on Dave Miller and Tony Shepherd, neither of whom were any great shakes. I always wanted him to do well because he got so much abuse, unfortunately I wasn’t at Doncaster for his hat trick but I can still remember Len Brewer worrying that the game was going to be abandoned due to fog so denying PG his finest moment in a blue shirt.

Can hardly expect you to be unbiased here Anyway, the majority of his career (Bolton, Swindon, Mansfield) was before he dropped down to our level. Frankly, I don't care if he played like Cafu for the other clubs, for Carlisle United he was the personification of garbage and it was painful watching him. He ended up in our 1988 team for a reason.

They used to shepherd the opposing winger into the box on a weekly basis lol Mike Graham has still got John Barnes in his pocket from the Liverpool cup tie, part of an interesting back 5 with Dalziel, Saddington (RIP), Jeffels and Fitzpatrick. I didn’t think he was that bad, never guilty of diving in, a master of back pedalling. Mike Graham had John Barnes in his pocket!! That is a genuinely comedy gold statement.

No not exactly Tim but we were born in the same room just 3 days apart Maybe this explains why "he had an amazing turn of speed when running backwards".

All joking aside on this appointment Barr might get the defence better organised. It can’t be any worse than it has been surely..

Is he a good coach? On the plus side he know Simmo & club & is experienced On the flip side do we need a more technical/league 1 coach?
