Is he a good coach? On the plus side he know Simmo & club & is experienced On the flip side do we need a more technical/league 1 coach? Lummy says he’s a good coach so he must be! You’ve got to leave the technical stuff to the ex-players and coaches. It’s not for the great unwashed.

Working alongside Bowyer the pair achieved a 40% win ratio at Salford and 54% at Dundee. Under Simmo we are currently at 33%, so hopefully he'll be able to bring some ideas with him from working with Bowyer.

If you back Simmo you have to trust him to choose his own backroom staff. Pleased he’s been able to bring in another coach and someone he’s worked with successfully before.
As for those insinuating his limitations as a player might also limit him as a coach - Mark Birch was as agricultural as they come, but has still had a hand in developing the classiest English defender of his generation

I wanted to say him but now not sure if it wasn't Paul Gorman but Graham was the name on the tip of my tongue . They used to shepherd the opposing winger into the box on a weekly basis lol That Paul Gorman treble at Doncaster stood for years till the next one came along. I once worked with his missus, nice lass and a cracking rugby player - she confirmed years later to me that he had scored the last 'league' hat-trick for Carlisle United, I'm probably wrong but it could have been Reeves who got the next one as they were a rarity in those days.

Heard today Barr left Dundee end of last season. Surprised it’s only now Simmo came calling.
Hopefully the fresh voice on the training pitch will help and take the pressure off Simmo & Skelton

Looks like Barr's pushed Skelton down the match day pecking order:
Simpson said in the N&S
"We took a group to Burton on Monday, and it left about four or five players [behind].
“So we ended up with [assistant manager] Gav Skelton staying behind with Adam Kwiecien [the strength and conditioning coach] and Chris [Brunskill] the physio – they did a session and mixed with the second year scholars.
“They did a football session, the top-up work, so they’re all getting work.

Good. He's a knowledgeable footballing man. Cameron Harper scored 3 goals again Dundee 2 seasons ago when Barr was there so I’d say he had a role in his signing.

Noticed that after he came in we passed the ball lot more , against Derby last game , for periods of the game we passed the ball around really well.

Personally I think this is our best signing so far, as happy says above, after a quiet couple of games he found his voice, and the playing style especially some of the set pieces improved, though due to the players involved the outcome wasn't as good as it should have been.
An improved squad and his input will hopefully have us challenging for promotion next year.
