As title . I'm struggling to think of a worse one. 2 loans strikers who look terrible at this level and can't score , a loan player with a history of bad injuries who got injured in his first game , a 35 year old whose career is nearly over , an ex Championship striker who can neither score or assist and a player who is a mile off league one standard. With 10 games till we can get anyone else in it will need be a miracle if we are in League One next season .

Let's be fair here.
It's not just Simpson.
It's Simpson, Abbott, Skelton and the unfortunate joker we employ as an "analyst".
Ultimately however, the composition of this team is Simpson's decision.
Also, it would help if he played his strikers as strikers rather than midfielders and wingers.
Plange spent most of the afternoon today on the left-wing, he did look more of a threat when he moved centrally (by accident it felt like).
Maguire played as a midfielder today.
Ablade, too often has been asked to play on the right wing.
Garner is too often isolated alone against two hulking centre-backs.
Do we really have a striker problem or are our shortcomings tactical? How often have we played two upfront (genuinely two upfront) this season?

Were you supporting the club two years ago when our forward options were a first year pro (Sam Fishburn), a guy playing part-time for New Saints in Wales (Brad Young), Tristan Abrahams (say no more) and Manasse Mampala (struggling to break into Marine's team)?

It’s hard to say it’s the worst we’ve had when we’ve been toothless in the league below. But it’s definitely worse than anything I saw from us last time we were in league 1.
Barnsley is going to be fun next week without the 1 striker we’ve got who has actually scored some goals. Better hope for our second clean sheet of the season.

Obviously playing Devil's advocate with the title , but it does feel similarly as bad as that team which had no goals in it till Patrick came in . Just surprises me that Simpson , with all his experience , has been way off with what is required for league One.

I don't understand why he brought in a clown like Abbott as director of recruitment.

It’s just Groundhog Day over and over again with mostly competitive performances that might have been worthy of a result ending as defeats because of the chronic lack of goals.
Lavelle’s o.g. would just be a footnote if we had even moderately underperforming forwards, but instead it’s the decisive moment of the match.
Garner among the forwards has justified his presence but I don’t think anyone expected us to have to lean so heavily on his contribution.
The others don’t seem even be able to fluke one in off their arse or anything, nor do we seem to be able to muster a header from a corner.
Lack of a physical presence up front has definitely cost us.

The honest answer is no. There have been far worse strikeforces in the past. However, the current lot are powder puff and not good enough for this level. Radical improvements are needed in January if we are going to survive

As much as the forward line has been powderpuff they've been fed on scraps as the supply line has not been good enough.

NO. You would think that our defenders could get on the end of some of the set pieces though.

NO. You would think that our defenders could get on the end of some of the set pieces though. I noticed today that we were not running onto the ball but all stood in position waiting for the corner to come across, surely better to attack the ball? Saying that the corners were improved from earlier in the season, Gibson was unlucky with an obviously rehearsed corner set piece as he back heel flicked a near post ball just over.

Yeah the back heel was good. I had started to see a bit better by that point - after getting blinded by the sun all afternoon till just after the second half started and the sun went down below the Warwick Road end, it was like watching the game through a photographic negative for ten minutes after that.

I thought it was Maguire?
