Mells and McCalmont were the only 2 that came out with any credit from yesterday's game.

Someone will take a chance on him, if we move on from him. He`s one of those players that when you mention his name, the common response would likely be the "amount of goals he`s scored, so he must be good"
So we might be able to flog him over the summer, ideally to Rotherham, to make up for the crap they`ve sold us recently.

I wouldn't be disappointed to see him go to Stockport, especially if they pay a fee.
Better for us not to have him in midfield.
Better for Mellish to work under a competent manager capable of playing him in position and bringing some intelligence to his game.
It's a win for everyone.

Letting Mellish go would be a mistake IMO.

Best position is LCB, ideally with someone better than Lavelle alongside him, I'd even prefer Barclay at RCB. Just so long as Neal drop's into the gap when Big Jon goes upfield, he'll do a job for us.

I think half the value is from his attitude. His defending has come on leaps and bounds. In midfield he gets forward, he stops play makers playing and the gold nugget is the hat trick against Peterborough. As for leaving, it's 2 questions. What fee would the club get? And for John, how much better would he become playing with better players?
Dropping into the 4th, I'd keep him, good player at that level

Mells and McCalmont were the only 2 that came out with any credit from yesterday's game. Apart from his goal I thought McCalmont was poor, didn't seem to realise we played in blue. Just about every pass in the 1st half was either straight to a Wycombe player or overhit and no chance for anyone to get onto it

One goal when there’s nothing at stake and an attitude to match says get rid in my book

I'd keep Jon too. He's very Mellishy and can be either great or dreadful but at least he's always available. 200 odd appearances for us in 5 seasons shows he's not prone to getting hit by cosmic rays or pulling a muscle breathing like various others.

I’d also keep Jon as well , he is what he is as we all no but always shows a bit of fire in his belly and puts himself about with a bit of attitude, I’d have made him captain this season to motivate some of the others

I think if he left I think there would be numerous occasions next season when we would say, "we could have done with Jon Mellish".

Could anyone see Mellish playing LB in a four?

Could anyone see Mellish playing LB in a four? I know he struggled when he first came but he's a very different player now , and I noticed on Saturday he actually put in some decent balls low across the boss, not great but I feel he's been playing as a left back for the past two years anyway with how he plays.

Could anyone see Mellish playing LB in a four? That is where I would play him. Athletic so can get up and down and can defend reasonably well. Don't mind him as a CB but would prefer 2 better. Question mark over his touch and distribution but mistakes are better made in wide areas as opposed to CM of CB.

Could anyone see Mellish playing LB in a four? No. We need more quality and creativity from our wing backs / full backs whether it’s a 5 or 4 at the back. Mellish’s best position is LCB, play him there.
