yorkieblue sadly, I'm told the back bar at the Howtown Hotel will be closed this year. May mean a few extra quid is spent on the bars on the boats by thirsty walkers though

Good pics Yorkie. A good walk that, I'll never forget summitting Causey Pike and getting blown off my feet due to 50 mph winds when it was forecasted to be 20 mph.

Nowt quite beats a bag of XL Crisps on a sunny Easter Sunday lounging on the rocks just below the summit of Carrock Fell. View without bag of crisps in the foreground.

Good photos Yorkie. Definitely a nice day to be on the fells. Helvellyn wasn't as busy as I expected today and the sun got out which made for an enjoyable outing.

Good for you Blencathra, I tend to give the more popular areas in the Lakes a miss on Bank Holidays and go for the quieter Northern Fells or Pennines.

Tbh Yorkie that's what I normally do too. It's always a lot quieter there.

Oooooh ! So those are these Cheese XL crisps I`ve seen mentioned so many times ?! Must be a northern thing, as I`ve never seen a packet like that, in any shops near me in my life.

Genuinely didn`t know they were an actual brand, and thought everyone meant generic XL cheese crisps !
I`ll be on the lookout for a pack of these, as I want to try them.

Been working all over easter when the weather was fine so was looking forward to a walk out this week, now it's raining every bloody day.

From Glencoyne Car Park up through the farm then up to Nick Head then followed Greenside - White Stones - Hart Side - Birkett Fell - Sheffield Pike - Glenridding Dodd. Having not done any of these before I didn't enjoy the steep descents of Sheff Pike or Glenridding Dodd too much especially as it was more mud than path. 8.91 miles done today. Halfway up towards Nick Head The weather was kicking off looking towards Helvellyn so much that the top of the Fell in front looked like it was on fire. Looking towards Ullswater flanked by Brown Hills, Glenridding Dodd and Sheffield Pike with Place Fell sitting above the water. Approaching the peak of Sheffield Pike which took longer than expected due to far too much bog trotting.

Birkhouse Moor and Catstye Cam from Glenridding. First ascending Laal Cove and descending via the path from Red Tarn Beck. A first shot of Birkhouse Moor as I start the climb up Looking over to Place Fell from the top of Laal Cove before the ascent to Birkhouse Moor. Towards Sheffield and Heron Pike from Birkhouse Moor (North Top) Stopped off at Red Tarn for some Dinner on the way up to Catstye Cam. Not a bad view. The peak of Catstye Cam reached looking towards Helvellyn. A picture of Greenside Mine? as I headed down back towards Glenridding.
