Every time I check this thread, and see all that water, it makes me wonder what the fishing is like up there ?
Anyone ever throw out a line in these places ? I imagine if anything, it`s mostly Trout, Pike, and maybe Salmon isn`t it ?
Are there no decent Carp waters up there ?

It was windy (I don't think it's dropped round here for about 12 year). Funnily enough it was windier on Swirral edge than it was on top of Catstye Cam.

No idea how you've pulled that off, Wukkie - it feels like weeks since we had a good day out here! Forecast is looking reasonable going forward though, with rumours of high pressure settling in over the coming days...

Prefer the summit of Catstyecam to that of Helvellyn - feels like a 'proper' mountain top, with ground dropping away all around. I've grown incredibly lazy since picking up a couple of injuries a while ago, but here's a pic of sunrise from Catstyecam a couple of years ago.

Good photos Wukkie. You've done well to dodge the rain. Forecast is better next week so I'm hoping to get out again.

I did this walk on Tuesday 16/4, I've had to cancel a few walks as even when it hasn't rained the ground would be saturated. I'm thinking I might give Ullswater area a break for a week and go elsewhere. Fingers crossed for a dry spell but I have a feeling this wind will never drop all year, just hope it gets a bit of Gulf Stream wind as opposed to the Arctic chill.

That`s a cracking photo Moonie, worse photo`s than that have won competitions.

Rosthwaite Fell from Stonethwaite this week ascending Big Stanger Gill. Very steep ascent starting halfway up and wouldn't fancy doing it when the steps are wet and slick and an almost non-existent path on the way down on the Combe Gill side. Great area up there which you could explore for hours. I did Bessyboot and Rosthwaite Cam and didn't see a soul all day until I was back in Stonethwaite going back to the car. Walking towards the campsite and then a direct right. Eagle Crag in the centre. Looking back down Little Stanger Gill, little did I know the hard part of the walk was about to begin! Crossing over the gill I came across this little waterfall One of the locals was there to greet me on my way towards Bessyboot.... Bessyboot tagged and bagged Good views towards Black Star on Fleetwith Pike standing above High Knott with the High Stile range in the background. A shot of the gully of doom which I'm convinced MRF and I navigated down with three dogs 14 years ago. To this day he still insists we went down the correct way! Rosthwaite Cam before I began my descent back down. This picture doesn't do it justice how big this piece of rock is. Bessyboot on the right hand side where I'd been. Took around 25 mins approx. Taken on the end of the ankle turning path back down with King's How in the centre. Skiddaw in the background.
