Hope they identify more suitable sites than Blue Yonder threw up. They were embarrassing, several had already been built on!

Amazing how many people and businesses are offering to sponsor or willing to talk to the club now the horsemen are not running the show.
They've been a dead weight around our necks for far too long.

As much as this needs to happen, a small part of me will be sad when it does. We must be one of the last league clubs where you can wander down and see the players/coaches round the ground during the week.

Theyve said it will be a community facility, so potentially like Fleetwood were it has hospitality, public facilities etc , so you might still get to see them. Although likely not the fact anyone can turn up and watch our training is not helpful .

You can at Fleetwood as theres a cafe open to anyone in the facility building but as i recall as you go in theres a notice that says something like by passing this point you agree to abide by the following and its quite an extensive list and i believe that one of the pitches is angled/orientated in a way that it cant be seen from the public access areas. At the Blackburn complex its massive and spread out with loads of different buildings and the bits youre allowed/not allowed access to are well defined. So theres two that i know of that arent run in the way that people tend to think with more security than Sellafield.

So what do we think the ‘needs’ are?
20 acres approx has been mentioned, which is plausible given other Teams facilities these days.
Quick access to the M6 likely preferred?
Not on flood plain for obvious reasons?

Quick access to the M6 likely preferred? Not on flood plain for obvious reasons? I'd put that at the bottom of the list, though it's worth considering. A site that can be developed over time, where planning permission is a given, and like you say not on the flood plain. Affordability another factor - the less they have to spend on buying the land etc, the better.

Might be one for Soul but what was on the Land where Fleetwoods training ground is? I was thinking that growing decent grass pitches may be easier dependant on what the land had been previously used for.

If they can find some land near Sellafield they could probably save a fair bit of money on under soil heating.

Without doing any digging and i might be wrong but i believe the land used to be part of the old ICI Thornton works.

Why 20 acres ?
A footy pitch is 8500 sq/yds.
20 acres is 96,800 sq/yds.
How many pitches are needed ?
