I hope so. Now we have the funds a b team of upcoming youth players, first teamers on the fringes, starters coming back from injury and perhaps the odd gamble like Dudik, would be a really beneficial thing to have. The old reserve team system basically. It certainly sounds a good idea, we could check out trialists as well. Would they play in a league?

Anyone know how the U18 team got on versus ACC Stanley earlier, nothing on the official site. Nice touch for the youngsters to travel on the first team coach, our lads are in the club mini bus still I think.

Not sure if that's the final score or whether they just didn't update it...

The boys played well at times but made too many mistakes and Accrington were ruthless finishers. Dan Hopper played well in the first half at left wing back. One of the substitutes was called Rafferty and Billy was at the game so presumably some relation.

Fantastic experience for the younger lads, hopefully will of learned a lot. Always difficult at this time of year I’d imagine with some of the 2nd years leaving, lads out on loan, u16’s that are normally involved busy with GCSE revision so I hope they are not too downhearted and can take a lot away from the experience.

Yes, Rob, we had a very young side out. By the end, after all the substitutions were made, it looked like a team of 19 year olds against a team of 16 year olds. The Rafferty boy in particular looked 15 at most. Probably too young for GCSEs!

Five nil at home doesn't sound great. What do Accrington do that we don't? What plans do we have for improving, increasing, the volume and quality of intake? Do we run schools ie football schools kids pay to attend?

Yes. They say things like, there are kids off at gcses. So kids in Accrington don't go to school then? Kids are out on loan, so kids from Accrington don't go out on loan?
If you don't want people to take an interest in what you are doing why bother to post?

It’s a fair question. As I understand it the youth team had 3 second year scholars who have been released and one playing who has been kept on (Jake Allen). So Carlisle were made up of 1st years and a u15. Bar 1 player the bench was made up of u15’s. 3 of the under 16’s that have featured heavily and have been playing by all accounts fantastically well were absent along with the other 3 second years who have been kept on. When you compare it to the Accrington team which I’m told was predominantly 2nd year scholars you can see how the score line could be what it was, although I have been told it was a somewhat tighter game than suggested. I’m led to believe over the next 2 years the expectations of the youth team will be significantly higher, which if this is true will be fantastic for the club.

Thanks, Rob. I was going to post something similar regarding yesterday’s line up. Certainly, the Accrington team looked bigger, stronger and just older than ours and I’d concur that the score flattered them a little but they punished our mistakes and made very few errors themselves so we can’t complain. I expect Birch and the coaches wanted to challenge our younger players to see how they coped. Hopefully, there will be an interview with Birch about the game on the club website soon.
One of our coaches yesterday looked a lot like Danny Grainger. I was near the back of the stand and my eyesight isn’t great but he was certainly a left footed Danny lookie likey.

Accrington had an older team , ours was made up of first year and under 16 players.
