No, it's quarterly. Each return shows actuals for the last period and projected for the next. We audit football associations, that's why I referred you to fifa forward, it's the framework of the control structure . One of the people who will see them first is John nixon as they'll have to sign off on any action against a club.

Nixon has absolutely nothing to do with it Theres a small office of employed accountants based in Preston. Submissions have to be in by June 1st and December 1st and take effect from June 30th and December 31st and thats just come straight from the horses mouth.

To those expecting Simmo to say we will have the biggest budget in the summer....grow up. True....................however, you don't expect to be told we have a mid-table budget either, especially with everything else that's going on.

Simmo hasn't said which table his budget is in the middle of. Currently we are in League 1 so it could be a mid-League 1 budget which would be more than adequate in League 2 I imagine. He could mean a mid-Championship budget which would be very nice, thank you very much. The sensible thing to have said - which might have reduced a lot of the speculation - is we will have an adequate budget. Or a reasonable budget.

With reference to next season he said: “It’s the first time as Carlisle United manager that I’ve got a budget that will probably put us mid-table rather than bottom three or four”
So that's clearly a mid-table Division Four budget he was referring to.

He really is a man feeling the pressure, I find it hard to believe that Fred Storey gave him a bottom three or four budget in either the conference or in League 2

I reckon the level of budget, in respect of individual discussions with agents and players, is a total red herring. Players are going to ask whatever they think they're worth in the market regardless of your transfer budget. They're not going to arrive in negotiations asking for a lower amount because you've pleaded poverty in the media. I suspect they don't give too much of a f***. It's all about what they think they should be paid, how much they're being offered elsewhere and whether they want to play for / work with the manager. This is obviously true, but it ignores the reverse scenario. If you come out and say "we've got loads of cash", players are likely to inflate what they think they should be paid.

Players, agents and clubs will know we now have cash. It's not exactly a secret. If this was some kind of attempt to deflect from that, I'd find it pretty strange and it won't work. Unfortunately it did feel to me like a way of tempering expectations for next season whilst presenting it as a positive.

If we have 7 new starters on good money in August there is still a risk some will get injured, won't perform, won't gel. If we are midtable, that matches the budget. It won't fool the Americans though

The Piatak's right from the start said it would be a step budget increasing year on year so that the club will be run sensible and debt free unlike the past.
