Didn't understand what Lummy meant earlier when he said that we went up too early. You would take promotion rather than not surely? I wouldn't fancy say three years in the bottom league 'preparing' to go up as it would be three fruitless seasons with no guarantee going up on the fourth. I wonder how this season would’ve gone if we’d lost the pens to Stockport. Not beyond the realms of possibility that we’d have built on the momentum, added a couple of shrewd signings in jan, and would be going up in the automatics this time around. We’d then be in a much stronger position to take on L1 than we were this time around It’s all Charters’ fault We would've been looking forward to Conference football right now. "Shrewd signings"? Cloud Cuckoo Land.

Firstly, thank god this appalling season is over. Secondly, I actually thought this was one of our better performances. Plenty of effort and occasional decent play. However all our other failings were on display. Poor defence, toothless attack, no creativity, belated substitutions etc For all our play in their half I never felt we were going to score. It is an indictment of how bad things have been that I'm mildly cheered by only losing 2 nil. Pretty much how I saw it pal.

And poor Taylor would be on the physio's table by then as well.

You have to take promotion every time. There was a time I hoped for promotion from the bottom tier mainly as I knew it would guarantee us at least two more seasons in the football league. The season just finished could have also have been a reality in League Two.

Just look at Stockport this season (who finished only one place above us the season before) Honestly lads, I know Cumbrians are naturally pessimistic, but you’re allowed to think a glass is 51% full occasionally

Doesn't seem like it. You think the team we have now is capable of winning promotion from League Two? "Shrewd signings" is possibly one of the most deluded things posted on this forum.

Now that Jennings has gone there's only bitter left.

Torquay lost to Hartlepool in the National League play off final on penalties in 2021 - look at Torquay now.

We will officially be playing Barrow next season as they have just drawn to Mansfield.

Even if we stayed in L2 and got promoted we'll have still been under the management who would take us into L1 completely unprepared for the step up.

glasshalffullphoenix has just texted in to remind people that we’ve just achieved our highest league finish in a decade.
